Anyone know where I can buy the bearing inserts that are typical in a SRM powercontrol handlebar mount? I've looked around and it looks like they might be called a bearing transfer, but everything I find is way bigger. These are ~5mm dia.

Are you running a nylon-cased PowerController or an alloy one? How about the bar clip? nylon or alloy? In my experience, the cases (in particular e alloy version) are quite tight-fitting and do not require the ball plunger apparatus at all.
