I have read a few threads here and someone had made the rotor 3d+ crank (with Q-rings) work with ultegra 6770 FD.
So I guess it will works with 6870 FD too. Am I right?

Yes! Setup is key but di2 is far and away the best shifting with non-round rings.

I'm using 52/38 Q-rings on my tri bike with Di2 7970. I takes some time to set it up correctly (derailleur height over the largest spot and angle are the two critical parameters to play with), but once it's set up, it shifts perfect every single time.
