I know various aspects of the issue of the SRAM Rival FD has been raised here and elsewhere but my question is:

1) I own an 2007 SRAM Rival bike.

2) The FD never worked right. I had a mechanic who said he just did a SRAM clinic try and fix it and he couldn't. Said he was told by SRAM, yeah, there's issues with the thing.

Basically, it's hard or impossible to get out of the large ring.

3) I see a Red FD for $25 on Ebay of undetermined age, alum colored, not TI, clamp on. Should I buy it and swap? Will it be any better? I saw the link to the article discussing the swaps and it was helpful but are the older Red FDs any better than the older Rivals?

Anyone know? Thanks.

If its a non Yaw front derailleur, there won't be a difference. It just has lighter hardware.
