Currently have 52/36 - I would ideally like to slip a 34 on there and run 52/34. Anybody out there mannaged this? Aware that it exceeds the 14t recommended variance.
Maratona coming up with a possible trip to the Zoncolan - ouch. I don't imagine being out the 34 much on these rides.
Thanks!

I know a guy whom ran a 53-34T combo for a 125k hilly ITT and worked out okay for him & a mate runs a 53-36T combo without issue
+1.
Shimano sponsored teams used 53-34, 52-34 and 53-36 last year, can't remember where.
They all had Di2 which improves front shifts tho.

Shimano does not recommend it of course... but I'm just saying the 9070-RD can handle 32t with it's short cage.. no problems. Yes you can always get the 6870 mid if you like.

Thanks for the replies all, purchased the 34t will attempt to fit it tonight. I'm using the DA9000 with Campag 11sp cassette and I think that in that respect I'm maxed at 29t sprocket.

Anyone considered running 52x34 QRings (or similar oval rings)? Anyone done it previously without issue?
I have done it for really hilly rides here in Colorado and have had it for a long period of time. I have Di2 and noticed NO difference in FD shifting. The only extra difference was drive chain noise when the FD shifts.
A bunch of carbon, with a bunch of electronic parts
