Di2 MTB Sequential shifting- is Road next?
Moderator: robbosmans
The new di2 for mtb has sequential shifting - does this mean it's coming for Road?
This could be just a firmware upgrade or use the MTB front junction box - they say it's pretty programmable? And MTB is available in 2x11
Maybe you just need that LCD display?

The mtb/xtr di2 looks pretty wicked, I must agree. What I'd like to know is if the rear d will work with the di2/hydro road shifter. That would be awesome on a cx/gravel rig. Sequential shifting is a really great addition too. Particularly if it manages to happen as transparently as the road di2 shifts now. An electric clutch d on my cx bike is what I've been waiting for! Alas...its probably gonna cost A LOT.

What is meant by Sequential? Because my road DI2 can change either single or multiple gears already.

Sequential means that the brain will decide when to switch the front to get a sequential progression of gear ratios - just press the button to tell the system you want more or less gear and it will figure out the next best combination of front and back to give you that.

Should road system be designed like this?
(In XTR Di2)A front shifter is available, and the whole system can be set into “manual mode,” allowing it to function just like a normal drivetrain. But Synchronized Shift is designed to be used with just a single shifter. The system will decide when to shift the front derailleur, moving across the drivetrains’ entire range. The point at which it shifts the front derailleur will change depending on whether the system is being upshifted or downshifted, and can be manually set as well.

Am I wrong but does the efficiency at 1:!0 in the video look wrong....should stay in the 26 for 8 cogs on the rear then switch to the front and drop down to the 6th and start again. Higher drivetrain efficiency and no bigger gap in the gear ratios eyeballing the chart
I want to play with this on my road bike and deco on my TT bike with only the single button extension shifters!
