Quick question - what are the smallest rings I can fit to a 130 BCD crankset?

I have both Shimano DA 9000 and Campagnolo SR and want to get as close as I can to a compact without having to buy a new crankset.

Shimano DA9000 uses a 110BCD for all rings, so you could go with a 50/34T combination all the way up to a 55/42T.

Thanks all and particularly FIJIGabe. That's helped make my mind up.

Think I'll dump my SR and 7900 groupsets and upgrade to 9000.

Or just get a Campy crank with 52 - 36 and not compromise...

I think that if you can spend the premium, go for the DA9000 (or U6800 or even 105 5800). Like FIJIGabe said they use one BCD for all chainrings, but you must use the compatible chainrings. I don't know if the crankarms and the chainrings from the three groups are cross-compatible.

rma, 52/34 and the like were being used in TdF by Shimano sponsored teams. It does degrade shifting though.

Shimano will accept a 38 tooth. Campagnolo will accept a 39 tooth.
