New Dura Ace Chain........return to Asymmetrical

Well, there you go. Shimano has now issued a new Dura Ace 9000 chain that is asymmetrical, like the 7900 chains. They just can't make up their minds! Designation is CN-HG900-11

I don't think that's a Dura Ace chain. I think it's for their new XTR MTB group that's 1X11

I don't see where it says it's asymmetrical.
My favorite components are the ones I never have to think about.

When they launched the 5800 group, the 11-speed chain is asymmetrical and Shimano said they would upgrade the higher groups chains too. Apparently the stiffer outer plate makes for a better front shifting. Can't say much about that, but I'm waiting for this new chain to become available.

Dang and I just stocked up on the "older" dura ace chains because they were on sale. I guess I know why they went on sale!

But that's ok, I'm happy with the shifting using the current chain. And I'm sure that switching out a fresh symmetric chain will shift better than a worn out asymmetric!
