Di2 7970 system for flatbar, I need the Di2 experts please

Is that a 7970 system? were the shifters just plug and play? What did you do to it to make it "internal battery" ready?

Actually that post has it all. Happy reading. The new e tube stuff made this an obsolete knowledge. The beauty of 7970 was the easy hacking! Good times.
Hi Mr. Goodboyr, would you help me understand the term internal and external wiring with regards to the seat post battery? Couldn't you just drill holes in the frame and fish the existing wires thru at the appropriate places and plug the deraileurs in? and with regards to a seat post battery, couldn't you just get a seat post battery and plug it or splice it into the existing harness where the battery is now? Everything seems so plug and play now, at least the stock set up I have on my bench. I am sorry for the stupid questions. I have the DA 7970.

For 7970, there is not much difference between external and internal. And in fact, there were 4 different configurations, mostly centered around whether the external battery mount was a long or short mount. The other difference is that the rear junction on a fully internal wiring harness was small enough to insert into the frame, it looks like the external, but without the mounting tab. So, in general, once you are splicing and cutting anyhow, you can do what you want. The internal harnesses come with pre installed zip ties to keep the cables from rattling in the frame, something you can easily do with your own zip ties.

What kind of connector and battery would you recommend for a seat post install?

i used an internal Calfee Design battery , found used and cheap on ebay

Sugru is great stuff. i have used it for tail lights with magnets. holds well and is waterproof. i'm sure you can use it for the switches...but initially, you need to tie wrap them so it bonds to the handlebar.
