It's not new news - but doesn't the 5 port Front Junction box which according to Shimano's website has wireless functionality do the same as this?

http://www.bikerumor.com/2014/02/02/shi ... computers/

Or did Shimano change there minds on the wireless transmission protocol and the 5 port has some Standard that was only going to work with the non-existant Flight Deck?

Do you have a link for the mention of the wireless functionality? IIRC, it was originally advertised to have that, but around the time when it was actually released they stopped mentioning it completely in their press releases/marketing material. At the time it was assumed that they had pulled the support for it and/or removed the wireless hardware.

Time to ask a shimano rep, because obviously they haven't given much detail on the 5-port junction box. I'd suspect that is just a remnant of when it was an advertised feature to work with the flight deck. Wonder if the wireless hardware is even in there...

5-port doesn't include wireless unit. At least not mine. I have ISMEWW011 to get info to PRO scio computer.

In case anyone was still wondering, I got a response from the Shimano tech rep via my LBS:

"The 5 port junction A does not have wireless capabilities. It was originally going to but that function was pulled before it was released. The new D Fly unit will transmit gear indicator and battery life indicator to a compatible computer."
