Ritchey Break Away real weights

I recently built up a steel Ritchey Break Away and was surprised by the lack of real weight while researching the frame.

This is an older frame and the geometry is slightly different to current - the headtubes are 20mm shorter across the board. The 2014 version of this frame also has integrated headset cups and a larger diameter downtube which may effect weight (one way or the other.) My frame is a 58cm and the fork is a Mizuno. Frame weight with the coupler and headset cups installed was 1860 grams, fork was 448g cut to suit with crownrace and preload bolt installed.

So here they are for google to index:

That's really light for a steel, break-away frame. Cool!
The bike is nice. IMHO It needs either a black crankset or more polished alu parts.

Wonderful. I would just go with some black chainrings to balance it all out.
Very, very cool bike, Tristan.

Nice. I have one of similar vintage although a size 53. Your fork & frame weights are very similar
Mine has Rival parts, Felt cross wheels, aluminum bars, & Easton carbon post. Weighs 17 lbs.
My intent was to build it up with reliable/affordable parts. Everytime you check it, maybe the last time u see it.
I got it down to 15.5 lbs with carbon tubs for the Mt. Washington hill climb a few years ago (not that it me helped any)
It's a very soft riding frame & clearly not for taking a sprint finish
That being said, it does it's job - to get your riding fix when you're out of town.
Mine just passed trip #200 since I bought it in 2008 (work for airline).
The case is completely hammered & the plastic insert has been busted in half twice.
The frame itself has faired well w/only a bent hanger up till now
My only complaint is the finicky lower clamp. It squeaks like an old chair sometimes, no matter how much you baby, clean, & torque it. They need to make this interface more robust IMO.
After repetitive whining, the Ritchey guy just told me to disregard their instructions & put a light coat of oil on the interface.
That has worked so far
