Need some help on removing a thm bbright bottom bracket from a cervelo. Turning the drive side that has the spline only causes the non drive side shell to rotate along with it. Apparently the loctite has loosen on the non drive side and now everything turns as a whole. There's nothing for me to grab a hold of on the non drive side to counteract. Anyone had this happen before that can give helpful suggestions? Thanks in advance

That has always been my fear on the THM BBRight bracket as the NDS does not have the spline -- I don't think there is a tool that will allow you to prevent the NDS from spinning.

Have the THM BB on one of my Cervelos and made sure the appropriate Loctite was applied and that everything was nice and snug. I now consider the BB as part of the frame so when bearings need to be replaced, I can do so without having to remove the BB. The Enduro BB30 bearing tool fits perfectly and can be used to remove/reinstall bearings with the BB installed on the frame. Hoping that the reason you're removing the THM BB is for bearing replacement -- if so, that's what I would recommend -- just tighten everything up again and use the appropriate tool to remove the bearings. If not, you can send an email to THM -- they're very responsive (THM's Marco Weger has responded to all of my queries).

Thanks guys. As audiophilitis pointed out, there are no splines or anything as a matter of fact, on the non drive side for a thm bbright. I thought I had loctite it enough on installation but apparently not enough as it has worked its way free. Wanna sell my frame so I need to get it removed. Only thing I can think of is to make some deep depressions in the non drive side cup that will allow me to fit some sort of tool in there to prevent it from moving. But that will definitely destroy the thm bb. Will definitely have to email THM for advice.

pour some boiling water in a cup, place the frame sideways and place bb cup in the hot water. wait a few minutes. then use bb tool to remove.

Is the boiling water for expanding the metal on BB up against the bb shell for more resistance?

Mike Do you mean release as in to reactive the loctite to bond the bb back onto the shell because that would be what i would need. Or to undo the bond of the loctite, because it already has done that.

it's to undo..

sounds like another THM tool is in order if you wanna do it right.... Like I said I only have 1 THM as well... but I'm able to get enough grip another random one( came with a cheap bike toolset, like from nashbar/performance) without messing up the THM BB.

Per above to undo the loctite. I would not try to reloctite it in place. You must use another tool to get the other end out. I xcan, thelp more because i don,t use bb right just the std clavicula screw in bb. Consult with thm. Give them a call.

Afterbyou break loctite bonds on both sides, i recommend using two clavicula bb ttols. Phil wood bb are similar in that u need two tools to install and remove bb.o
