Thought I'd post some recent updates... Ended up losing the Kestrel EMS SL bar... the standard WCS 26.0 stem won't hold it... slipped at max torque. Not enough surface area. Kestrel says the bar requires more carbon friendly stem. So, if I end up with a stem @140g, then whats the point of having a light bar?

Anyway, I changed back to my lifelong favorite, classic-bend, shallow drop bars... plus, I can go back to my 13cm stem, as opposed to the 12cm with an anotomic shape. I'm sooo much more comfortable like this.

Other updates include Zipp 280 decals... very thin... the bike was too stealth, the wheels just needed something. Also, the blue chainring bolts have to go... black FSA ones are inbound.

O6 Eurus... just picked them up... popped on my spare record 11-23 ti/cromo cassette... and they sure are looking sweet. Took them for a quick ride with just my sneakers on... and WOW, are they smooth. Popped them on the hanging scale at the shop, and got 1580g... 680 front, 900 rear. Not too light, but a perfect all-arounder for sure.

Total weight of my setup is

Zipp 280 Pave/AmClassic/DT Spokes/Conti Sprinters= 13.51 lbs

06 Campy Eurus/Veloflex Black/Vittoria Tubes=14.66 lbs

Rich, I think it´s the best CR1 I´ve seen yet.! it´s perfect! Classy, Understated, but by no means boring, Very well balanced.

The decals on the Zipps really live the whole bike up, but I have never understood why people took them off afterall... So cheap looking.

Congrats! Now go ride!

Looks nice with the Eurus. :D

But with the Zipps 8) Area 51, Batman, Skunk works, Blackbird. Can't put my finger on it but it looks mean.

Good work!

Man, something about the simple metallic blue/raw carbon/chrome that just looks so right on that bike. And everybody it right, the white Zipp decals really liven things up a bit...if only the little red in the decals was a matching metallic blue!

So sweet!

Kestrel bars are very shiny and slippery. You need to roughen the surface that makes contact with the stem with some fine sandpaper. I still can't believe that KEstrel hasn't addressed this.

Tried that... still slipped while climbing on the hoods. Kestrel's customer service told me to try that. They also said I need a more carbon friendly stem with more clamping area. But in a 26.0, choices are limited.

Regardless... I wasn't digging the shape.

Rich,

That's a hot set up. I think it is better than your limited. Now I know our CR1 builds last year were similar aside from frame color. This year is no different. You've basicly stolen all of my ideas from my head and did it before I. So don't get pissed when mine looks similar. But don't worry, I've chosen differen't saddle and seatpost combo, that's about it though.

The Eurus black was my choice as well. I havn't ordered them yet as I heard they weren't going to be available up until about now. Are the decals removable?

Glad to see it all come together, I know you had some complications on the way. Good work.

Back the boat up.... I totally did the SL with Record, Stronglight and ZG first :P Looks really good Rich, I am just waiting for my M2 post and Zipp bars and then I shall be competative.

Yeah, but yours is a compact! Careful what stem you choose with the Zipp bars... I'd go with the Zipp stem with the Zipp bars.

We all know you have a CR1 w/ record, i have one too. You posted it 12 times in like 2 days. Just kidding. What I was saying is that his component selection is near identical, except saddle and post.

LoL... I noticed that... I literally just got home from my LBS with my Eurus... and after the photo I realized I stuck the skewer in from the wrong side...

believe me, this has been corrected already... good catch.
