Hi all,

I could do with some current, up to date advice. Im building up a new bike after some time away from the sport due to health reasons.

Ive been trying to find a second hand CAAD10 frame for a few months and have had no luck. They really are rare! I've tried ebay, classifieds....

I'm based in the UK and I can buy one new for around £700. Now I know they are an excellent frame but for that kind of money Im tempted to try and get something carbon

I will likely be building the bike up with some chorus 11 speed (from ebay) and some nice 32h clinchers on record hubs (ebay again).

Budget is rather tight.

Framewise - before I just pull the trigger on the new CAAD10 are there any other frames (that I can currently get!) that may be a better shout for that kind of money? I previously had a 58cm Addict for reference. I wish Westbrook would sell the frames for £500 again!

Ive tried searching but I would really like some current ideas

Cheers

Gerry

Thanks for that Gazzaputt, unfortunately a 56cm is too short for me

Cheers for the link though

The Kinesis Aithein could be a suitable replacement *http://www.kinesisbikes.co.uk/products/racelight/aithein

^^^ Those are meant to be very good. Obviously there's Ribble and Planet X for carbon.

Also have a look at the Storck Visioner. Frameset is £759 http://www.storck-bicycle.cc/road-bikes/visioner-2014

The Canyon Ultimate AL (and SLX version) are supposed to be good framesets too and cheaper than the CAAD10. The Kinesis Aethein is very good as already mentioned. I've heard good things about each of these but I've not personally ridden any of them.

Good luck!

I'd go for the Ultimate AL if it's available in your country.

I was going to suggest the Kinesis but I was beaten to it.

I know a few people with Rose frames and they all seem to like them a lot -

Look great in the flesh as well but I'm not sure if the geometry will suit if you're looking for a long, low ride.

The CAAD is a great bike, just built one of the black ones up for one of the guys at our shop. I'd steer clear of Kinesis, not had great experiences with them in the past. If you're not too brand concious have a look at some of the carbon frames from Miracle, they offer great value for money.

Have you seen Quantec´s SLRi)???? They seem fairly cheap and they come with all the new stuff (bb30, tapered ht, mech and electronic, internal cable routing). I hate the color schemes but you can always remove the paint and paint them as you like, thats what I will do and I will use it as a crit bike.

I'm having a hard time finding a better value than a CAAD10 at the moment. The only thing holding me back is the scarcity of internally routed framesets.

Thanks everyone. Just to round up what we have so far -

1. Kinesis Aithein - £650
2. Storck Visioner - £759
3. Canyon Ultimate AL - £669
4. Rose frame - £846

I think out of all them the CAAD still gets the nod... I do like the Canyon but Im unsure about the geometry.

In a slight plot twist - Condor Acciaio. Any opinions on it? It certainly looks beautiful
