You're confusing "stretch" (cable) with "compression" (housing). The reason you see the metal link housing is because it will not compress... The links will separate (stretch) very easily, but that's the opposite of the force they have on them.
Both things (stretch and compression) happen to some degree with a new system set up. You have to run the brakes a bit to "seat" the housing and ferules etc... Then adjust for the work load.
There isn't much stretch in any good cables... (at least not during simple actuation in the context of this thread)
This thread isn't about cable stretch (or likely about the cables at all)... It's a system / installer error.
