Bb30 cranks vs 9000 with adaptor
Moderator: robbosmans
So bought dura 9000 but my Frame is pf30 thus a bb30 crank would be better.
So what is the better option for stiffness etc and is there a noticablw difference if I use an adaptor and 9000 crank vs bb30 crank? I am 75kg and do sprint pretty hard.
A red22 crank would be the obvious choice if I stayed all bb30. Ignoring the whole I can't have sram and dura mixed together. Which way would you go from scratch? And why?

get yourself a Praxis BB30-HTII conversion BB. I dont use a praxis BB, but I have heard nothing but praise for these things. Much better than the other types of adapters.

i, as with many people on this forum, wouldnt mix sram/shimano (even though you said it wasnt an issue for you) plus the new DA9000 crank is dam nice.
stiffness would probably be the same. Stiffer DA crank/Rings with potential losses in the adapter vs proper BB30 crank but with not as stiff sram rings.

Stay with the 9000 crank. All you need is decent BB30 bearings in the frame and the wheels manufacturing adapters.
I run these on all my BB30 frames with my beloved fishing tackle. Cheap, Creak free and very easy to install.

Hi all,
Thanks for the messages/questions on our Conversion BB. Some on this thread emailed us asking about the spec...
Our BB is designed right to Shimano spec which is why we have the bearings outboard. This puts all the pedaling loads exactly where Shimano designed the Hollowtech II spindles to take forces. It's not an adaptor , but rather a full proper bottom bracket for Shimano cranks on BB30, PF30, or Specialized OSBB road frames.
If anymore questions just give us a call at our Santa Cruz office or email info@praxis-works.com and we'll be glad to help.
Thanks for the interest!

Hi as per my post. I've had excellent results with the wheels manufacturing adaptor. It doesnt crush into the frame like other makes. I had a k-zero screw in BB like the praxis and it cracked the paint on my BB. The wheels will not do this.
Just leave your bearings and circlips in and add adaptor.

Keep the 9000 crankset.
I've had great luck with the wheels mfg or problem solvers adapters.

Good info and thanks.
I've gone for the Rotor BB30 conversion kit. Like the Praxis, it's a full bb, not an insert for the existing PF30. I'll report back when the bike is built. Going from Rotor 3DF w/ Praxis rings to Ultegra 6800 (so same design as DA9000, but heavier/lower grade); be interesting to see if I can feel any difference.
