Had a small solo crash around ~10mph. Brunt of the impact was on the hoods first, and then the asphalt tore up the tops on one side.. (tore just the bar tape). Left two nicks. They're deep enough that they catch my finger nail, but I don't see any damage or cracks around them. I'm not sure if it's just the clear or through to the carbon (I don't know how to tell). They seem to be intact. I'd put a foot on one drop and two hands on the other drop and yank on them. Almost imperceptible flex, no sounds.

What do you guys think?

On one hand.. they cost about $350USD to replace. On the other hand, are my teeth worth $350? hmmmm..

Oh yeah, to make it someone on topic... 2012 model, 44cm .. 185grams on the dot.

This bar is made from carbon, not cake! :noidea:

Much stronger material than people give it credit for.

They are only nicks, doubt if they go below the clearcoat

That'l buff right out. Just a flesh wound. Continue to enjoy them and if the scratch marks bug you, just add a little auto polish, or even a dab of olive oil on a q-tip, really.

I guess if the lord of carbon says it's ok, I can stop being paranoid! Thanks guys. Sorry for the big image size, Frankie .. it looks tiny when you're on 4K i swear.

put a few thousand ams on my rotunda teams with a bigger (and slightly deeper) graze than that. The LBS agreed they were fine. no problems so far.
