Tarmac SL4 model
Moderator: robbosmans
Hello there,
I am in the market looking to change my current bike and i found a Tarmac SL4 in a pretty much perfect condition. However, i am not really sure what year model that is. Can you please help?
I guess it is either a 2011 or 2012 but cannot tell, as i cannot find it on the Specialized site
Thats the frame we are talking about... (it's a pic i found on google)
Any other info regarding the specific frame and changes compared to the next Tarmacs woudl be great.
Cheers

Specialized didn't start making the SL4 S-Works Tarmac until 2012. I checked through their archives and didn't find any Tarmac frames with that color scheme. I'd take a real good look at it just to make sure it's not a fake Tarmac, as there are apparently thousands of knock-off Tarmacs on the market. Not saying it isn't legit, but just be careful.

The seller has all the receipts and documentation and seems legit. However, i am trying to be as sceptic as possible, thus the thread asking for details.
Thx for that!
that's the frame i am looking for.
Says it's a 2011

I bet if you look through here you can narrow it down!

If it has internal cable routing on the down tube, then it's an SL4 correct ?
I could be wrong, but I thought the internal routing came in with the SL4 model.
Whether it's a fake, I don't know.
Better to be skeptical.

Specialized has done a LOT of color schemes for the Tarmac Sl4. More over, several of these never get listed on the consumer website.
For instance, I think there are 9 colors currently available for 2014... and that is only for the USA. Other countries often get different colors.

One guy in our local tour has that frame. Its an 2012 sl4 in saxobank color (saxobank logo on the seattube over the specialized text).
Here yu have it online: http://www.mailordercycles.com/m2b1s193p2020/SPECIALIZED_Tarmac_SL4_Frameset_2012/ZOOM2575

Well, i 've seen that, but here it is sold as a 2011 year model...

The main thing though, is if there are significant changes between models 2011-2012-2013.
Cause, if there are and a used 2013 sells for 3-3500 quid, then how much should a similar (older of course) spec 2011 model set you back?

It's worth as much as you're willing to pay.
There are no real differences among the different model year SL4, other than graphics. So, if you like it and think the price is fair, then go for it.
I would think that there wouldn't be much price difference among the 2013 to 2011 model... since they are the same frame. That's assuming that use is about the same on them.

I'm fairly certain this is a 2012 scheme. One difference in the SL4 range is production dates in 2013 up have more clearance in the chainstay area for wider rims like the 303FC's etc.

So, you are saying that the 2012 model may not fit my 303 firecrests?
