ok, simple question.

When installing a 10spd shimano cassette on a shimano freehub, in what order do you put the washer and mini spacer that sit underneath the rest of the sprockets?

I cant remember if it matters or not and cant compare to other wheels as they all run mavic freehubs which do not have the same setup.

thanks and apologies for the question!

Depends on the Shimano hub. They made a DA hub that was 10sp only for a while. It uses no spacer. Those have an aluminium freehub body which has stepped splines that are taller for the larger cogs and shorter for the small cogs. But most are made from steel or Ti and use a 1mm spacer between the hub and cassette. Their splines are a constant height all the way across the body.

Normally there is only the 1mm spacer, no washer. Mavic freehubs are longer and need a Mavic spacer to get to 9/10sp width and then the Shimano 1mm spacer for 10sp cassettes.

If it's a Shimano hub then you should only need the 1mm spacer that comes with the cassette. It should go on first before you put the largest cog on.

You do not user the spacer for the 7800 hub with the stepped 10sp splines.
