Best Oversized Compact chainrings
Moderator: robbosmans
Hi,
I have always raced on a standard but have recently switched to a compact SRM to keep my rides in control during the off-season. For the reason I need a set of LARGE compact rings to run for the spring/summer.
Right now I am thinking about going 52/38 maybe even 53/39, 110bcd & 11 speed. Stronglight CT2's are my top choice of course but given their hollowed out shape I am nervous they will become floppy at this size. I would rather not have to splurge 170usd on a set of praxis rings if I don't have to. Thoughts, comments and suggestions please!!!!!

This is what I don't understand. Is 50x11 really going to keep your power down significantly?
Edit: if you had no power meter before, then I think I get it.

I've been very impressed with my Praxis compact so I'd say them or perhaps a Rotor Aero set (for stiffness).
Given the praxis rings are drop forged like DA rings yet cost a pair what the DA rings do each I wouldn't say they are expensive.
