-17 degree stem and handlebar advice
Moderator: robbosmans
Hi
Just wondered if anyone could recommend me a good -17 degree stem? Does anyone else make one other than 3t and Ritchey?
Also does anyone have any views on Easton EC90 SLX handlebars?
Want to get some new (light) handlebars and really wanna get the same make of bar and stem...any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi Kogan ,
Zipp make -17 degree stems also Deda make one called Pista which is a track stem by all accounts but think it may be more than -17 degree ,still i have seen a pro rider use this stem think it may have been Dan martin or someone like that, and of course there is bars to match.

I like the SLX bars. They are very compact so I can run a longer stem and lower bars, making the riding position when on the bar tops closer to the position when on the drops (aero matters on climbs too).
Ritchey also makes some nice light compact carbon bars.

3T is good enough
thanks guys for the suggestions...
I have had a look at 3t but not sure on the shape of the bars. Zipp sounds interesting..but are pretty expensive!
Any good deals on zipp bars/stems anywhere?
Thanks for advice on Easton EC90 slx...used a set on a team bike a few years ago, liked them then but wasnt sure if theyd changed the design.
Can I get away with using a different stem and bar or with the fashion police be onto me!?

Spent all afternoon researching and narrowed it down to...
Easton EC90 slx and Pro Vibe carbon monocoque bars
narrowed it down to these two as used both before (just the alu pro bars but guess the carbons are the same shape)
will make decision depending which i can get a good price on.
3t am abit worried about as friends say they flex a lot

I recommend you go with aluminum stem and bars. Plenty of light examples out there.

I have a 3T -17 stem and I just bought a Ritchey -17 stem for the other bike I'll build this winter
Ok so update is went to local bike shop...was shown some Easton EC90s in a 40cm, Reynold Carbon bars in a 42cm and we are gonna have a look at some Pro Vibe carbon monocoque bars as well.
any Alu suggestions that are light?
Also still looking for a bar that has a narrower bar top section?
Zipp I'm still not sure on..very expensive and 3T had reports of flexing.
thanks
