Crack in paint rear of head tube, z5.
Moderator: robbosmans
My z5 has a few cracks in the paint at the rear of the head tube, should I be concerned?
They have a bit of dirt in them which is why they are darker. They kind of look like stress cracks in the paint, is it common for z5 paint to crack?

Guess these will be paint cracks so no reason for concern but since it's winter and these frames don't come cheap I would at least send it of Parlee and have them repaint it under warranty (and have a checkup for peace of mind)

If you're worried, ask the man who built it, not a bunch of keyboard warriors, who will tell you anything

+1 Parlee will give an honest answer but will want to see it in real.
For some manufacturs you could better ask some "keyboard warriors" because you'll get a more honest answer from them than from the "man" who made it will always say paintcracks and wait till things get worse.
Only way to say is strip all paint and look what's goes under it (but that's hard on a picture). In this case if TS is the first owner and didn't crash it my bet would be paint cracks in this spot but as said I would ride it no more and just ship it in for warranty reasons.

Hello,
We repair carbon frames and if you are still having problems determining if the bike has a structural crack or just cosmetic give us a call and we can discuss options of NDT testing

It is not common for the frame or paint to crack there or elsewhere but we will happily inspect this and let you know what the resolution is.

One thing that makes me happy being a Parlee owner is the way they deal with any issues. Thankfully I have had none, but any time you hear of a problem with a Parlee, they step up and take care of their customers.
