subject header say it all...

looking for light, unique, but very functional (as good as, or as close to, oem performance) chainrings to go on a sram red crank spider.

am running sram red drivetrain also.

would appreciate any recommendations.

thanks!

I am running Stronglight 53t with a FSA 38t and it works fine.
I would not say better performance but not any worse either. I think it added about 4g.
I do think it looks better

Compact or racing double?

If you want compact I have a set of Extralite grey ones which would look really good, or a set of Cannondale rings off of a Mark V (2010) Si SL chainset - both sets are brand new and never been mounted.

Personally I'd go with something all black like the Stronglight CT2, but I'm purely basing this on looks...

sorry, i should have added that this is for a regular 130 bcd spider. 39/53 rings.

you guys like the extralite and/or stronglight ct2's though? happy with 'em? last a decent amount of time and work well?

A colleague of mine had some extralight and the teeth felt like butter and some aluminium came out with the use. I use CT2 from Stronglight, i like the looks and for me this is a top notch part, it lasts forever and reduces the sound of the chain...and most of all it shifts flawlessly!

I have been using Stronglight Rings since the late 80's. Even then they were the best. I have used them for years on tri bikes as the larger ring size for customers, no shifting issues and they are stiff!!

Go Stronglight.

Greetings!

I've done a bit of googling, but I've yet to find anything... authoritative?

I have a Sram Red compact crank, and I was looking at the KCNC Cobweb rings. However, the folks at Fairwheel bikes warned me that they were likely not compatible due to the hidden bolt on the Red crankset.

Has anyone had any success with lighter after market rings for this crank? My bike is otherwise 6700 (with KCNC brakes) and it works well together. If there's something out there with comparable shifting performance and a weight savings, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks!

I used Stronglight chainrings no problem, and many of my team mates used Rotor's. We had to run 52'ers as we where juniors last year and SRAM do not make theese.

It's just SRAM wanting to get an extra piece of the cake. You can easily install every other kind of chainring on the SRAM Red crank.
