I'm sure I read somewhere recently that the MTB version of the S-Works crank will fit on a BSA road frame that has a suitable 30mm BSA BB installed (Zipp / THM / Tune etc). I've searched, but I can't find the reference now.
Can anyone confirm whether this will work?
If it will, can anyone also confirm that the spider from the Lightning cranks will work on the S-Works crank? I know the S-Works version is licensed from Lightning so I assume as much, but I want to be sure.
I need a new chainset and my LBS has the S-Works in stock - my frame already has a 30mm BSA BB in it so it seems like a decent option if it'll work...

I can confirm the spider fits though you will need to file the splines on the Lightning spider a little, I also used the Lightning locking as its much thinner than the S-Works one. Not sure about the axle, unless its 73mm and its just enough extra length to fit a BSA/BB30 converter?

Thanks - I've been able to work out that the MTB version will work, but it turns out they only make that in 170, 175 or 180mm lengths. As I use 172.5mm it's not going to work.
Might just go with the Lightning anyway...

So how will the MTB version work? Is it because it has a 73mm axle?

The lightning spider will not work on S-Works crank according to my information. I contacted Lightning a few years ago regarding the use of an S-Works SRM on lightning cranks, and they told me that the splines on the spider were different between the two cranks.
