Well that's my explanation for the difference out the window!!
Maybe the very first batch came with the 2013 fork sprayed up in 2014 colours?

regards
ianSWBB

My guess is they used up 2013 parts and then moved to the new fork.

In fact it must be that - as I've just noticed you have external EPS, which was only on the very very first batch of 2014 frames

The second and third edition come without the powerunit bracket plate underneath, just a charging point for internal V2 system

ianSWBB

Yes you are right, when I ordered it I wanted the eps mounting bracket under the down tube as I already had eps and did not want to buy the v2 system.
I don't know if you can shed any light on the blanking plugs but I only have 2 colours 1 white and 1 black, yet I have a blue frame its not colour coded :noidea:

I don't know what it is with colnago but there seems to be a lot of mix match stuff going on.

Yes, they have colour coded the plugs to match the decals and not the frame colour itself!

The C60 we manhandled yesterday, had the same push in 5p plastic plugs that we saw on the CX Zero!!!
(to blank off the mechanical group entry point on the drive side of the down tube)

All a little bizarre, as they look like they will just fall out, the first time you go over a bump!

everything else looked amazing though! can't wait to test ride it :D

Yeah, I'm not a fan of "plugs" but the 2014 C59 I have in process right now is of course "dual". Building it with mechanical group. I also thought the same thing regarding them falling out, at least the one in the rear of the chainstay. Think I'll put a little dab of silicone on it to prevent that. The plugs for the charging port and front derailleur wiring seem to have lips that catch on the inside when you push them in. Still, I might just add some silicone to those too since in bad weather those a re surely places for water to enter the frame. No big deal I suppose being carbon with adequate holes in the BB for drainage but still, rather seal it up for piece of mind.

@ianswbb: it might be a while before I get to see a C60 for real, but tell me... does that downtube as it hits the BB area kinda look like a bit like a 2x4? Now that some of the initial hype of it being introduced is starting to wear off, the reality of exactly what this thing really looks like for real is starting to set in. I put no stock in the "stiffer, badder, faster" marketing crap, even from Colnago. That's what marketing is. I do think the bottom bracket solution is unique and well thought out (as good as it can be in light of today's common manufacturing methods) and am hoping it works as well as the theory behind it suggests it might. And I don't care about the weight... some people think that is the be all and end all of bicycle technology. It's not. But I do care about quality of construction, durability, and ride characteristics. And that certain "je ne sais quois", which Colnago has in spades, arguably more than any other bicycle brand, period.

But I can't help thinking that with all the chunkiness of road bike trends... bigger tubes... wider rims, disk brakes (ugh), etc. etc.... that pretty soon I might as well just get a mountain bike and call it good. I know that's an exaggeration, but part of why I love road bikes, and Colnagos in particular, is the sleekness an elegant simple lines.

I can say I'm not a fan of the dual mechanical/electric frames, but I understand the need.

Sorry, just rambling a bit, and looking forward to seeing one in the flesh.

Has anyone seen a traditional geo C60 yet? Or either trad or sloping in a larger size?

Also are there any new paint schemes for the Master in 2014? (sorry if that's ot)

@Calnago
We should have a C60 frameset in the workshop in about 10 day's time for 'browsing over'
It will be here for a while, so you are welcome to come and have a look!
In short though, the answer to your comment is yes - from the side on photo, it looks sleek and tidy like the C59 tubing, but from above it is wide and boxy - very wide and boxy!!!
Having said all that, I liked the way the tubing is integrated into the lugs - it is all shaped to marry up nicely and I can see how it would be making the crucial BB area stiffer - however, I'm not a good enough rider, or putting enough torque/power through the system to notice the difference between it and the C59!! Someone with the power of say Andre Greipel might notice! but not ianSWBB doing 20mph up and down the A38 between Bristol & Gloucester!!!

Dual mechanical/electronic - understood and agree - the standard stock will be this spec - but mech only or electronic only can be special ordered

@tinozee
traditional geo C60 will likely be September, as Colnago are doing all the sloping back order stock first
the one we had in the workshop the other day was a 52s (equivalent to a 56traditional)
Master paint schemes - for 2014, the standard stock are black, blue and red - however, when I spoke to Laura back along, she pretty much indicated we could have whatever we like! - so the customer has ordered a PR99 :D

When I picked up my 2014 C59 at Colnago USA in Chicago I was told that because I had a custom paint scheme and not an off-the-shelf frame I would get a "newer production fork". I was a bit nervous but was told that it was stiffer and stronger fork- an evolution if you will. I'm pretty happy with it though some of my teammates who got the 2013 C59 now feel a bit slighted...

Anyhow, time to show off a bit :)

2014 C59 in TXOR
Shimano Dura Ace Di2 with sprinter shifters
Stages power meter
SRAM Red cassette
Easton EC90 SLX3 Carbon Bars
3T -17* 130mm stem with Tilliquist's integrated Garmin mount
Garmin Edge 500
Fizik Arione Carbon saddle
Mavic Carbon Cosmic Ultimate with 25mm Continental Competition Tubulars
Black Prince SwissStop pads
Crappy $5 aluminum water bottle cages I've had for a decade :)

Raced the bike for the first time yesterday and LOVE the Di2. Felt like a video game in the P/1/2 field!
