I'm planning a build on a XCR tubed frame for spring 2014.

I'd like silver bars & stem but Deda don't do Zero 100 in silver. Ritchey do a similar shape bar but I'd like an alternative. Bar & stem must be from the same manufacturer.

Any ideas?

Most of the silver alloy items are pretty nasty, so you might want to remove anodising from a Zero 100 bar and then polish it. But personally I would just go with a silver stem and live with black carbon bars as you can't see them from the side.

Best silver stems in my view are:
- FRM Web stem - on my Colnago now, quite cheap from ebay
- Tune Geiles teil - similar to FRM but lighter and more expensive
- Thomson - a bit "round" and quite porky but reliable. On my tandem
- Cheap ITM or other take-off from a low end racing bike. Easily de-logoed.

The Ritchey classic is quite shiny. The stem's fine, but the bars are very heavy. Mine weighed approx 300g.

The alternative is to take one of the lighter bars and have it polished. I've had a few stems and bars polished.

You could just buy whatever black alu stem and bars you want and hand polish them to a nice silver...

Hope products (UK company) do a nice machined alloy road stem that is available in black or silver.

Do Nitto do anything close to a Zero 100 in shape?

Superstar do some raw alu parts. Don't think they do drop bars though.
Campagnolo; because it's a bicycle, not a fishing rod.

Though the HB is rather titanium finish. I'd rather go with Ritchey Classic, as that is more affordable, and I'm cheap. : ) Nonetheless, I'd say that the glossy white or gunmetal-titanium finish is sexier than plain mirror-polished alloy. :)

You could go polish 3t stem+bars, that would be quite something.
Nittos aren't exactly optimised for weight.
(Really like Ritchey, but for a high zoot bike, I'd probably look somewhere else)

Removing clear ano from parts is pretty easy and getting a perfect polish after doing so is also pretty easy to do. Removing powder coat on the other hand is pretty difficult without scratching the surface, which in turns makes doing a perfect polish loads of work.

For a stem you could consider going with a titanium stem and get it polished. For handelbars I would go for a black or a carbon one. I had the Ritchey Classic handlebars and they do not look very classy.

Thomson has silver stems...no bars...but they have a "matching" silver seatpost.

Well seeing as it's a choice between mismatched bars & stem or Ritchey by Kalloy lead weights it's back to the drawing board. Deda Zero 100 bars & Superleggera stem methinks.

Soma shotwell stem and hwy one bar.

Bar is most like an fsa but not tapered, like a deda.
