hi guys.. i have the 2012/2013 RED 10 speed group on my addict. saw the DA9000 with compact 50/34 and the option of 11/28T for cassette.

was wondering if there's any weight savings to be had by switching groupsets?

Have they fixed the strength of the SRAM Red shifter levers? Heard they break up fairly easily.

Well I've been using mine for about 1000 miles.. still rock solid.

Too bad the DA is still heavy. :(

I think DA in general is quieter than red. :(

Red with a DA cassette and chain. Light, quiet and functional.
Lightest: straight red.
Best shifting: straight DA.
Updated: Racing again! Thought this was unlikely! Eventually, I may even have a decent race!
Edit: 2015: darn near won the best South Island series (got second in age
-group)..woo hoo Racy Theremery is back!!

I agree with theremery - this set up is dialed - I run 7900 cranks as well. Best combo out there imo...okay so the brakes are no where near as strong as 9000 but I don't have a ton of descending around here...well more correctly put, descending that is technical requiring that I get on the binders a bunch.

theremery: Best shifting: straight DA... is that because of the spacing between the gears vs. those on on the red cassette? my friend has DA group on his parlee and i can rarely hear him shift. by the time i hear it he's pulled up in front of me.. haha. whereas my shift.. he can hear it nice and clear.. :( but my addict is still lighter than his parlee.. that's my consolation prize. :)

Shimano and Sram cassettes interchange. Shimano cassettes are quieter running and shifting than even the new Red 10sp cassette with the anti noise rubbers.
Sram derailleurs and shifters slam into position like the bolt on an AK47 so they're louder shifting even when using a Shimano cassette.

Addict, you know what I just did. The DA9000 shifts like a quiet dream. I have the Hollowgram sisl2 cranks and love them! I do agree that mixing and matching the best of both might be the best idea. This is on my EVO not my Addict, The addict still has DA 7900.
Let's finish the ride with a 20% grade.

sweet.. i'll definitely keep that in mind. if they are interchangeable.. does that mean i can put in a DA9000 cassette 11/28 without messing around with the RD or FD?

Yea, if you had 11sp Sram. 11sp and 10sp don't interchange.

I usually run Shimano cassettes on my Sram bike.
