Platform pedals for single speed road fun bike

i'm converting my fixed gear bike to a bike for riding with the kids/occasional little road ride for fun, can you guys recommend some cool pedals that look cool and function well with regular sneakers, i don't want to put on just any garbage, but don't want to go past $80.00. any advice friends

Do you want plastic or alloy? Are you running straps?
What is your definition of looking cool?

cool=low profile, i dont care if they are nylon or metal, no straps I think, unless i realize that without them on a solo 10 mile ride things suck without them, LOL
i guess we better cover all the bases, do they came with them or usually separate purchase, do i need those spikes on them for road use?
