Looks like my SRAM Red 2012 shifter broke, just before a big ride scheduled for tomorrow AM. I really need a second bike, maybe one with Shimano or Campy....

Sram product life cycle:

Buy -> Break -> Warranty -> Break -> Warranty -> Break -> Warranty -> Break -> Warranty..........

That being said, I really like the feel and function of these new red shifters. I hope they get you taken care of properly in a timely manner.

Broke 2 shifters. Very annoying.

I hope it's fixed quickly too, there are less than 3K miles on this set!

I really like the feel of the SRAM lever & hood over Shimano, I just wish they had Shimano durability.

6000 + miles per year on sram red shifters since 2008-2009 (whenever I got them). Same shifters, life cycle of: purchase, install, ride, ride, ride, ride, still riding.

Ditto. I've been riding SRAM since 2007, never a break on the shifters, never an issue.

That is a bummer.

That said, I have been using SRAM for 3 years or so, everything from Apex to Red, and haven't broken anything yet.

Have SRAM Red 2011 on two bikes, one set has >21,000k's on it. The other is coming up to 4,000 kms. No issues. Has the shifter been in a crash or dropped?
