This past weekend I replaced the chains on two of my bikes. One bike has a new Dura Ace 11 speed and another one has KMC X10SL-Ti. After one ride on each bike I measured the length of the chains for both bikes using a Park chain wear tool. To my surprise the Dura Ace reads 0.50 and the KMC read 0.25 (higher number means more wear or a longer chain). Has anyone noticed this before? I would think that any new chains should be very close in length especially if the of the subject chain is a Shimano Dura Ace. Thanks.

Dura Ace number doesn't sounds right. In my experience Shimano chains are very tight and close to zero new.
The KMC would be spot on at .25 that is how they typically measure new.

Thanks for the reply. That's been my experience as well with Shimano chains other than the new 11 speed. I wonder if this is a 11 speed specific issue. I don't have a second chain to check with. However I'm curious to know if all new 11 speed chains measure 0.50. I only put in one ride to break in the new chain.
