Can you remove the seals on the cartridge bearings in Novatec hubs while leaving them in situ, thus allowing a clean and re-grease? Or would you have to knock out the cartridge bearings and then re-fit after servicing?

We are talking Novatec A291SB and F582SB.

Thanks.

Well, I never thought this question was that difficult.

Generically speaking I find the seals on bearings this small are difficult to remove without damaging them. When I have a bad bearing in a bike hub I replace the bearing.

If a bearing is already rough or notchy when turning there is usually damage to balls or race. Cleaning and regreasing may make it last longer but not like a new bearing.
