Going for larger chainrings - chain length?

Currently I'm riding with a 50/34 combination on my Rotor crankset. Would like to have a 52/38 combination instead. If I choose the larger chainrings, do I then need to lengthen the chain, or will it work ok?

It depends on how long your chain is now.

You'll most likely need a longer chain. Sure someone will correct me but basic rule of thumb for minimum chain length is to wrap chain around largest cogs front and rear (not Passing through rear changer) and add 2 links.

As everyone else has said - it depends on what length your chain is now.
If you put in the big-big combo now and the RD is really stretched out, then you need a new chain. If there is still some slack you are probably OK.

There's sometimes a buggy.
How many drivers does a buggy have?
One.
So let's just say I'm drivin' this buggy...
and if you fix your attitude you can ride along with me.
