Trek Madone 7 Series
Moderator: robbosmans
When comparing a 6 series and 7 series Madones, with exactly the same specification in terms of components, the price difference is a mere £50! So my question is what is the difference between the two frame series and why bother having two when there is only a £50 price difference?!

Allegedly the 7 is a higher grade of carbon, so we are supposed to assume it's lighter and/or stiffer. Are you comparing prices using Project One? I didn't realise it was that close. Are you certain you've got the same cockpit components, saddle etc? Some of those bits make a big difference to the total price.

What's that in $/gram?

James Huang massed his 52 cm 6-series with standard paint job at 1000 grams. Smaller sized 7-series are comfortably under 800 grams. Under 750 grams if you go for the U5 vapour coat @ $1000 extra. At under $3/g I would say it's a good buy (though not the U5 coat).
