Do you have a brand of carbon past you like more than the rest? I have heard some products are too corrosive and can actually scuff components. I'm just curious what the safest carbon past is to use before assembling my bike.

I've used the Finishline stuff for years with good success. Haven't really tried anything else.

Most people buy a pot of the stuff from some brand and realize the pot amount will last a lifetime, so we never get to try different types.
My pot was from TACX and the stuff works fine.

Same here. I have a lifetime supply of finishline paste; something else might be better but I will never know! It works fine for me.

All carbon paste will scuff up the paint as it has grit in it. Otherwise it wouldn't work and would be called grease.

Motorex Carbon Grease doesn't have the particles in it.

Not used it though, still wading through my supply of Tacx.

Hi,

Most of these products are rebranded Dynamic product (Tacx, FSA, Syntace etc., etc.).
Not sure about Finish Line, Motorex (which if it does not contain microscopic particles is just an assembling grease?) or Effetto Mariposa's Carbogrip.

Ciao, ;)

Carbon paste is not corrosive, but it is designed to scuff components. That's how it works. Just don't shove your seatpost all the way in and lift it out again and you'll be fine.

FSA and now FinishLine. Seemed like identical products actually - both work great.

You can always use the excess as a sexual lubricant. :noidea:

Hi,

Juanmoretime wrote:I've had the little pot of Tacx for over 7 years now and am still working on it. I bought a tube of Park paste but probably won't even start using it until next year? Then someone gave a 4 once tube from a European brand, don't remember the brand name, so at my age I will never have to buy carbon paste ever again.

Ironically, sarcastic remarks like these are against forum rules. Sorry, John but you've just been caught red handed.
