The 2014 new R5 is priced at £3699/$5000 which was the VWD price.

So the price increases, so what, the aero development and stiffness doesn't come free. Still, doesn't mean the vwd should be compared. It's lighter, stiffer, and more aero than the previous r5.

Will be very interesting to see where Scott prices their new Addict SL.

Cervelo definitely is roiled into corporate quagmire of its parent company. Bean counters are now in charge.

The matte black finish with the logos looks quite good to me at least.

53x12, New Addict SL won't be very cheap either. I have an option (already now) to get one towards mid next year slightly used (driven approx 1000-1500km) full build (SRAM Red 22 + Syncros carbon clinchers) for slightly less than 5000 euro. New would be smthg like 8000.
Minimum bike categories required in the stable:
Aero bike | GC bike | GC rim bike | Climbing bike | Climbing rim bike | Classics bike | Gravel bike | TT bike | Indoors bike

There will not be any R5 VWD version. That is for sure!
VWD = Vroomen White Design.
Gerard Vroomen left Cervelo :welcome:

VWD was the design company that was created by Vroomen and White, it is a separate entity from the main Cervélo company.

As fair as I am aware Vroomen still sits on the board of Cervélo although he is no longer joint CEO.

Aha. Good.

Anyway. I also think there will be the same scenario with the R5 again...I mean the R5 will be upgraded to "VWD" very soon (2015) and weight will be decreased down bellow 750grams.
At this moment the weight difference betwean RCA and R5 is so huge (150grams) that I would not talk about any trickle down technology from RCA. Just the same mold, nothing else.

Look at the weight differences between R5CA and R5VWD....30grams?
Competitors will "not let" Cervelo to sell a porky 850gram as a top of the line frame.
Almost each brand is under 800grams these days.

Changing my mind on the 2013 R5 VWD.

I think they might do it, 140gm is a lot of weight and they did/have a 2013 S5 VWD.
