How long can a THM Clavicula crank last?
Moderator: robbosmans
The answer is at least 8 years in one case. My compact 175mm set, purchased at the end of July in 2005, has just developed a crack near the pinch bolts on the left crank. Averaged over the lifespan, a cost of $111 per year. Not bad for the WW crank category killer, but your results will almost certainly vary.

I've had a set since 2006. They required a repair shortly after I bought them... rebonding the insert for the fixing bolt, but have been trouble free since.
2 years!? Sounds like mine. If it wasn't getting worse I'd probably push my luck too, though it's probably not the smartest thing to do.pawnii wrote:My older non-drive side arm that used 2 pinch bolts also cracked. Damn thing wouldn't stop squeaking for the next 2 years.
The 4 years i had them I had all sorts of problems. I brought them used off eBay...very bad idea.
Seems some bastard sold them to me after he crashed them.
-Aluminium bung that the pedals screw into fell out.
-Aluminium bung in the non-drive side arm for the per-load screw fell out.
-non-drive side arm carbon cracked around pinch bolt.
-spindle was compressed or worn where the BB bearing sits on. So the crank always has a little lateral play.
