hey Routier, yeh I think as much as I whinged about not having a frame, 4 ish weeks is fair I guess isn't it. I don't know if you weighed your s1 frame but it feels lighter if you know what I mean. Also there's comparatively much more material around the bb and head tube, looks good, nice finish.

The weight is interesting. I know that the s2 ins't exactly their flagship model, but my 'old' 2006 Carbon Soloist is only a few grams heavier (1175g, size 56) :D

I'm going through the same with my claim in NZ. Four weeks without a peep. Evidently the distributor is changing for the Australia area and my local rep has said that things are very slow going. I recently sent my info to Cervelo customer service but, after more than a week, I've not heard anything back from them. Sigh.

^ This is pretty much why I got my Soloist off the seller in 2008 (I think I said this): because the distributors took so long replacing the guy's frame that he got the sh1ts and bought a BMC. When he finally got his new Soloist, he was already enjoying his BMC, so he sold the Soloist...to grateful me. :D

Try to get a new S3 from Cervelo! I forgot who the person was on the cervelo forum, but apparently they go on the boards often and sometimes help out expedite claims

Had the replacement s2 frame built with the outgoing s1 parts,

Finish - good overall finish but there are a few dust particles in the clear coat/ paint. This looks better in the flesh if you get what I mean, in the catalogues I really was not that keen.

Ride - I did a 50 miler on Friday which gave me a great feeling for what I was going to be dealing with on the S2. It's a stiff ride yes but numbs a lot more road buzz. Power transfer is good vs the S1, out of the saddle it doesn't seem to lose much power transfer under my 200lbs, not withstanding the quality of my wheels.

On riding it today on a short 17 miles ride to my parents place along the Severn valley it is much more prone to crosswind gusting at the front end, I guess due to there being more material as the head tube sort of trails with the carbon layup. This is much more noticeable compared to the S1. It caught me out a few times, but now I know this I will ride a little more consciously to take it into account.

I will sort a proper build post and pics when I have some time if anyone is interested.

Awesome! You just need some real handlebars. :D Just stirring.

If it's anything like my old Carbon Soloist -- and there's a good chance it's better -- it'll be a farkin rocket.

Incidentally: I was "chunky" for a years (up until about 3 years ago), weighing between about 190 to 200lb (87kg to ~91kg), and when I got down to 78kg (~172), all my bikes and wheels suddenly felt stiffer.

This was particularly noticeably of my Token carbon/alu wheels. They flex more than my 30mm-deep alu rims, so I didn't use them for ages, but when I put them back on a bike when I'd lost the weight, they suddenly felt heaps stiffer.

touche username! Yeh I like the idea of a traditional shape but shallow fsas and 3ts seem to suit me best, I already run quite a high saddle and 56 seems to suit me better than a 58. That said I have never had a proper fit, I just know what is most comfortable. I hear totally what you're saying about things feeling better as you lose weight, i started riding for real at 17st2lbs i am now 14st7lbs give or take. I have definitely felt each one of those pounds drop off as my climbing and overall fitness has improved. I want to be 14st next summer. Slowly slowly catch a monkey

Well, I've got nowhere with this so far in that the dealer sent photos ages ago now to Cervelo Europe who said that they've got a lot of warranty claims on the go and aren't honouring all of them...

The LBS were going to speak with them a third time but were suggesting that the next stage would be to strip the bike down and send the frame off to Germany for inspection. If that has to happen then so be it but I'd be without it for about a month and having to use my SS winter hack.

I reckon you were lucky OP!

routier, that's not good. Why don't you Email Cervelo Canada as I did, mentioning your serial no. Bizarrely it was the next day after I did this that I had a call from Tri UK that a new frame was on it's way to them. May very well have been a coincidence but my view is You don't ask, you don't get. Tri UK were very very helpful in this regard but they are one of the biggest UK sales outlet for Cervelo so they had real leverage I guess. Good luck mate.

*Update*

Four months after my warranty claim was started by my LBS I'm still no closer to receiving a new frame from Derby. I was promised one before Christmas but that was obviously BS.

I'm far from the only person who is stuck without a bike because of Cervelo's appalling idea of customer service, there's loads of other people with various models of frame who are in the same situation
