I picked up a set of HED C2 tubular wheels on an online auction site. It said they had lots of glue on the wheel bed.
That was an understatement. There was as much as 1/4" of old glue on some parts of these wheels.
The worst part was it was not a tubular tire glue. It was more like a commercial rubber or contact cement.
I tried all kinds of ways to get this crap off.
I ended up using a heat gun and a teflon scrapper cut to fit the profile of the wheel bed. It got most of it off but there was still a thick film left. I than used laquer thinner and a few rags and lots of elbow grease. This got it all but a thin film. Than I got an angle grinder with a brass wire brush and buffed the bed. This process took about 3 hours
to do both wheels but they are now down to the painted finish on the wheels bed. Washed it with an organic degreaser a few times and that was that.
Waiting on some conti sprinters and I will be good to go.viewtopic.php?f=3&t=60330
