OMFG! I was driving my car the other day, brake lines just popped! Brake fluid got everywhere, shorted out the ecu, the electronic throttle got stuck open. then the whole thing burst into flames! I'm lucky to be alive.

I can't wait for the H-pattern gearbox option in addition to hydraulic disc brakes.

Does this mean that the first Shimano hydraulic road disc brakes to come out are these generic, non-groupset related (BR-R785, Shimano branding) ones?
Could well be, they did the same with their first compact crankset.

the calipers look the same as the XT caliper. Levers do look much better than the SRAM offering

Maybe not a huge problem, but I've seen them get shredded/ ripped out in crashes. Thats why I run BB7's I can always patch together a front brake to get myself home, and holes in the housing aren't a game over situation.

SRAM will be pissed - who's going to buy their horrors over these?

Fair enough to a point I guess although relating to your original comment it should be noted that mineral oil is non-conductive so is zero issue for short circuits. You can even use it as a direct contact coolant in electronics.
