Will this ratio work with a Campagnolo 10speed derailleur?

Hi,

I'm running 34/48 chainrings on my compact campagnolo cranks and want to pair it with a 13-29 cassette on my Campagnolo Record 10 speed shortcage derailleur. Will this work, or am I running a risk of tearing it all apart?

The Campagnolo spec sheet for the 10 speed Centaur short cage rear derailleur says the following:

RECOMMENDED COMBINATIONS
Double crankset (52-39 or 53-39) or CT crankset (50-34) + short cage rear derailleur: all 10s Campagnolo sprocket sets.

I think you are safe. Size the chain to fit the 48x29 gear. And then try to never use the 34x13 or 34x14 or 34x15 gears.

The total wrap with a 48/34 is less than if a 50/34 was used, so there will be no problem and no need to size the chain for the 48/29 or to avoid using the 34 with the smaller cogs, since the chain will not hang loose.

Use the normal Campy-suggested little/little method for sizing the chain.

Max wrap for a short cage RD is 30T, which I know from experience. Obviously, chain length needs to be done correctly. OP's wrap is 30T, so he's fine.
