Built up a Z5Sli from Wrenchscience's closeout and it is pretty sweet.

However, the chainstay mounted battery sticks in beyond the stay a few mm, and under my massive (ha) watts, my Velocity A23 700x23 GP4000 tire rubs against the battery.

Anyone have a clever suggestion for spacing it out a bit? I'm considering notching the mounting hole with a dremmel to swing it out a bit. The tire doesn't rub on the other side of the chain stay.

Is it just the part of the battery that's farthest from the stay? If so, angled washers could tilt the battery away from the tyre slightly.

Any opportunity for you to get a different battery that mounts internally in the seattube?

Matt is on to something with the angled washers, I think. Best solution (save for internal battery) IMHO.

Nice bike, btw......black brakes would be a nice addition, as would be black handlebar tape.

You could file the battery mount a little, just the part that contacts the frame. File it at an angle, obviously...

I ended up doing a combination of all of the above. Seems to be in-line with the chain stay now. Hopefully that does it, otherwise the 700x23 Gp4000 is just too fat on the A23 rim (measures 24.6 mm wide), or my wheels are too floppy.
