I’m in the process of switching from Shimano to Campag, part of which involves swapping the Dati freehub on my race wheels. Brandon at bikestorehub was able to provide a Campag freehub and the installation job was very straightforward. However when I attempted to install my new Campag SR 11s cassette I hit a very major problem – with the installed freehub the back of the 25 sprocket was actually sitting tight against the hub flange and spokes and obviously wouldn’t turn.

There’s definitely something badly amiss here. Initially I thought a spacer, similar to the original Shimano 10 speed cassettes, at the back of the cassette might be the answer, though I’ve never heard of Campag cassettes using a spacer before. But no, when I fit the whole cassette on to the replacement freehub there simply would not be room for any type of spacer. So I’m a bit baffled. I’m assuming if there was a general problem with Dati hub compatibility with Campag 11 speed we’d have heard about it before now. So that points to the replacement freehub which I’ve installed. I emailed Brandon at bhs yesterday but he hasn’t got back to me just yet. Thought I’d also throw it on to this forum in the hope that someone here could shed a little light on the matter. Thanks.

on bikehubstore website, if you go on the dati page, at the bottom you got some review and one say this:

Nice hubs but ...

They wont take Campy 11 speed without modification. The big cog will rub against the spoke elbows. You have to shim the freehub out ~0.75 mm and if you do it's advisable to put a thin plastic spacer to stop the pawls moving over into that 0.75 space.
Otherwise nice light, free rolling and a bit noisy :)

Yeah, funny I noticed that review just before I read your post. And yet on the bikehubstore website the Dati hubs are listed as 9/10/11 Campy compatible. Go figure. Still waiting for Brandon from bhs to reply to my email. I've also emailed datibike to get their take on the Campy compatibility of their hubs. Starting to get a tad p*ssed of now.
