Hi guys,

Recently replaced my chain and cassette, running some 4 year old Mavic Kysriums. Whilst out riding today an annoying noise has developed. Basically, when I am free-wheeling at considerable speed (20mph+) I can feel a vibration within the cranks that feels like it originated back towards the cassette. If I do not rotate the pedals the vibration culminates in a squeaky noise until I start pedalling again. My initial thoughts are the freehub, but that way cleaned before I installed the new cassette. What are your thoughts, other than just dont stop pedalling?

The bushing on the freehub has worn out.

You need to change the freehub. Or if you're handy, swap out the bushing. (That is if you can fabricate one.)

Ah really! Is it still rideable or is it wise to swap the wheel?

Are your hubs sealed bearing? If not, when you washed the bike you may have washed too much grease out of the bearing housing.

Yes, hub bushing. Google it and you will find why/how. There is a seller on eBay that has a bearing that eliminates the bushing. I bought it and it works great.

He calls himself the hubdoctor. That should make searching a little easier.
