ok i have this pair of eggbeater stainless that i love dearly. but thinking if it's possible to tune it to be lighter? currently it's at 283.5g per pair..

i'm not a mechanical engineer by any means.. but quite handy with tools.

any suggestion on tuning? i know you can replace some parts here and there to make it lighter.. but anything more?

I rebuilt a set with Ti spindles. I'd have to go weigh them as I've forgotten. Been fine for a couple of years.

Ti spindles... are there any generic brands or do i have to get the one specifically from crank bro. reason why i ask is perhaps there's a 3rd party version that will be lighter?

i saw the eggbeater 11... 178g for a pair.. but for $450.. i rather use that on the farsport 38mm i'm saving up for.

System has my supplier I think. Was in US and text is similar. I paid about $45 at the time for these http://shop.titaniumspindles.com/Standard-Ti-Spindle-Fits-Crank-Brothers-Egg-Beater-Pre-2010-Ward-CB-EB-STD-Ti.htm;jsessionid=4CCB52D78534717425F28C07D918B290.qscstrfrnt02 and as I say, I rebuilt the pedals with a new bearing kit and they have been fine.

nice.. thank you both for the info. i need to check my box to see which year my eggbeater was purchased. it's been a while, so not sure which one exactly. :(

the only $45 ones i see are from china.. not from the links you gave me... but as long as it lightweight, fits and works.. that's all it matters. :)

I bought mine a couple of years ago - it's the same ones - now $55.

My pedals are the older SL's. Now weigh 112g.

You can get the old 4ti rather cheap if you look around. That is the best platform for the lightest pedals.

I replaced the original ti spindle with the Ward version. Nice spindles and comes in many different lengths. They have a very nice feel compared to the steel ones. More springy :D I also replaced the springs for ti as the old went soft. Bought from a guy in Germany.
