Yeah, what is funny, you better believe Team Cannondale, the riders have mostly custom, hand picked frames.

Sagan rides a EVO HiMod that is from a special mold that was made for another Cdale rider from a few years ago, the geometry is slightly different. There are a few articles about it somewhere on the web.

So, of course he can jump his onto the roof of a car with no worries, they do special layups/molds for some people.

The rest of us...too bad. Assembly line low quality.

Making a custom frame for the likes of a world class rider is a totally differenet thing. But are you sure that the EVO HI MODs are made in China? Do the China ones have the "made in USA" tag?

Sure!
According to 3 evo frames i've had, all had the tiny 'made in china' sticker under the bb.

Thanks for the response.

Yeah, this is a ridiculous situation. I have asked Cannondale to send more framesets to the dealer, so I can look at a few of them, and choose the best one.

The quality really is shoddy.

Other stuff I noticed on the latest one they sent;

-Brake bridge between seat stays is not symmetrical
-Brake boss on bridge is extremely scrappily cut, with bits of carbon sticking off it
-Every single sticker is not straight; total rush job with no care taken in application
-There are sections where it looks like they have used touch up paint to paint over areas

It really is absolutely shoddy work, especially for a frame that is so expensive.

This is the downside of a manufacturer giving up and out-sourcing production. When Cannondale manufactured in the U.S. they were in full control of the quality and it was high. This is why people go high end Trek for their made-in-USA bikes or Colnago for a c-59 or c-60. Of course Cannondale could bridge this gap, but by out-sourcing their are additional problems. Clearly Cannondale valued cost of production higher than other considerations.

It's the same model, but heavier: 200g more for the frame, 100g more for the fork.

I would try getting the 2nd generation Evo and maybe pay a bit for the difference. The new non hi-mod frames are only 125g heavier, the fork weight is the same as on your old hi-mod.
