They could just change ratchet piece in the shifter to have 11 clicks in the space of 10, or whatever the Shimano standard works out to. The guys who have added an 11th cog with 10 sp spacing by filing on the ratchet have shown that it has more than enough travel for Shimano spaced 11sp.

That way they could use the old derailleurs. All you'd need really is a new ratchet cam piece for the shifter. And an 11sp cassette of course.

Didn't someone on this site disclose how to modify a Red shifter from 10 to 11-speed?

Yup, all it took was adding one more notch into the ratchet.

That looks like it follows the XX1 design where the derailleur moves in one plane?

doesn't look like a traditional cable going into the derailleur either..

Prototype Red RD on a non-Red cassette? I don't think so. Plug also looks very much like the Ui2/9070 plug.

About the freehub design and compatibility w Shimano11, and the reason there will be a revamp right after a full redesign:
Sram Red was getting long in the tooth, they were losing OEM spec. They had 2012Red almost ready to go. Then they heard about Shimano going 11. Natural thing to do would be to go 11 also, but they had to WAIT. It was in their best interest to see what Shimano's 11 speed dimensions and requirements were to make sure their stuff was for the most part cross-compatible.
so they decided to come out with their redesign right away, get some momentum going on OEM spec, get some cashflow, and be ready for a minor revision to match Shimano dimensions.
So it Red22 will have the same cog spacing, chain width, freehub fitment as Shimano11. it will not use the xx1 freehub.

There's no need to 'push'. It is already on the production floor.

The Tier 1 manufacturers were already given a few rounds of its presentation since March. There was a 'by invitation only' presentation on it at the Taipei Bike Show from Shimano.

We should expect availability around August, maybe even earlier if their previous release schedules/timings are kept.

Extra cables and hardware? Hydraulic braking systems have one hydraulic line per brake caliper, just like rim brakes have one brake cable each. And hydro lines are pretty light too. The calipers are smaller than rim brakes and likely somewhat lighter. The only extra weight might be in the levers themselves for the master cylinder.

The rest of the disc brake system (rotors, hubs, rims) are not part of the Red groupset, so don't count against its weight.

I would like to contribute but cannot give any details. I will however, say this, there are some posts in the this thread that add needless complication, and some official looking releases that just aren't true. Sram is not interested in needlessly over-complicating something, so the more out of the box the idea, the less likely it is to be true. Also remember Sram owns Zipp and Zipp just completed a change over to use Shimano 11 bodies(I'm not stating that Sram has 11 or that it will be Shimano11 spacing compatible, just pointing out a fact about Zipp.)

Official information is right around the corner. Thisisatest and Maxxev are both in the know about things in the industry. If I were going to bet on anyone in this thread posting correct details it would be these two.

As for the Shimano Ultegra 11, you'll likely be surprised by the new information embargo date they have for it.

Lastly someone asked how well hydraulic caliper brakes work. Simple answer is they can work stellar. Magura has been doing mtb versions for a long time that even today are still popular with some trials riders. They also offered the HS77 which while it was quite ugly in my opinion it was functionally great.

Is this believable?
