I know you don't see a lot of them right now but Felts AR1 is a fine choice - one of the first, still tests super fast, and it's one of the more comfortable\stable frames of the bunch.

The new 2013 AR is lighter which is nice but still heavy and is probably the least stiff out of all of the bikes so other then comfort not a huge selling point.

I love my S5, Venge is a good bike also.

Test ride as many as you can and go with what feels the best. They are all good bikes at this level.

Except a Madone isn't an aero bike. I think the OP is interested in just aero

Well, that kind of gets in to a whole debate now doesn't it. Obviously "aero" is just as much a marketing term as it is a quantifiable element to any bike. To that end, the Madone has less drag than their old Madone, and less than the Storck recommended earlier in this thread. So its "more aero" than something.

Bikes now come on a spectrum of true aerodynamic performance. From the S5/Venge/Ar which have all tested fairly well; to the middle grounders like the Foil/Litespeed; then the "we're better than our last model" Madones/RcA of the world and finally, the I don't give a damns like the Supersix.

Some bikes are hard to quantify, like the TMR01 or Alize which did well in the recent Tour test but really wasn't up against any of the bikes that have typically done very well in the tunnel. In terms of the TMR01, its got lots of "tricks" but it seems to lack the one trick that always works, 3:1 tube shapes.

The Madone is certainly an aero bike....Kamm tail, shielded "integrated" brakes....what more do you want?

As a follow up to my post regarding the Madone; some people may want 3:1 tube shapes. The Madone, based on data released so far; performs better than the previous model but not in the same world as bikes that really sliim down their tubes.

Best aero bike is the Wilier Cento1SR. No question!

(I'm not bias, I swear)

I would agree with just testing some of these things out.

For the record though my 2013 AR1 frame set weight is about 1100 grams which puts it right in line (just above) an s-works venue .. that also puts it somewhere between the VWD and Team S5 frame sets so counting grams between the frames probably wont tell you much about which is faster.

All neat bikes though regardless.

What size is your AR1?

In answer to the OP ... go for a Venge. I had the same first world choice problem and bought a Venge.

Read the reviews, look at the data and it's obvious why.

If you don't like the way it looks on the other hand ... .

54.

And you're right - at least all these bikes mentioned above are different enough that if you're particular you are probably going to like or not like each one - no real in between :)
