PF30 bearing seal removal

Has anyone removed the inner bearing seal on a PF30 bearing? Seems like it could be done to reduce a tiny bit of weight/drag. The inner side of the bearing has the step on the plastic cup protecting the bearing and the plastic sleeve pretty much means nothing is getting ito the area in between the bearings.

Any reason not to do this that I'm missing?
