for those preferring aluminium rims of the wider variety I thought I'd provide some feedback on these new "Blue" Swissstop pads.

Info...
Rider - weight 73kg
Bike - Cervelo S2, Di2, 3T Rotundo bars, Velocity A23 rims, 25mm Gatorskins & latex inners at 95psi, TRP 970SL brakes
Route - After a hilly 80km with 2,200m ascent, a 12km descent average gradient -6.5%, 20+ switchbacks, asphalt quality good.
Averages - speed 50.2kph, 160w....so not crazy but plenty of surging out of corners out of the saddle
Weather - 13-15C and dry roads

So how do the "blues" compare to the "greens"?? (I previously ran GHP II's)

World's apart....honestly after the descent all I could think of was "WOW!"

The modulation on the brakes was very noticeably different, no locking up when really putting the anchors on, just "WOW!" majorly impressive difference in how braking felt.

They may be a bit pricey but I'll be stocking up for the years to come.

Regards

David

p.s. bought them from www.r2-bike.com as they seemed to be the only place currently stocking them in Europe at the moment.

Haha!!!

I wrote kph not mph!

Perhaps my slightly crazy descending skills make up for my "lungs of a gerbil" climbing skills....

This is why I love this board. You never let a new product go unoticed. I didn't even know they were out there. Although my greens still have lots of life left...

We have these on stock and use them on our bikes. Modulation and repeated braking is much better over the greens...and the greens were good.
Same goes for the new Black Prince (for carbon) much better braking in wet weather + lower rim temperature, a plus for carbon clinchers.
BTW and FYI....even that mavic and SRAM has similar models of previous SwissStop products they are not the same: The compound and design of the braking surface is superior on the SS product even that the color is still the same.

I think he means the 50km avg was for a 12km down hill section, not for the 80km ride before hand.

the greens are my fav pad so maybe look to try out the blues!

Question, what does/did the SRAM red, circa 2011, brakes come with as standard?

They don't look like the original swisstop black flashpro, they were awesome and I can't seem to find ones anywhere close. (LBS said the original ones are $130 AUD a set to replace, is that true!).

Might try these BXP blues next then.

The pads from those red brakes aren't available anymore. Sram switched to the greenish swissstop compound a year or so before the switch to 2013 red. Go for the r55c3 or c4 alloy compound from shimano for a great all around replacement for those. Very similar if not better.

Is that for one pair or two? (IE one wheel or two?)

Cheers!
