Nice build! I really like the way those frames look: sloping top tube, skinny seat stays, etc.

How does it ride? Kinda wish I had taken a look at this thread before ordering my Allez. Oh well, there's always the next bike.......

@teufelhunden222
I weight 145, maybe 150 soaking wet.

I came from a FM015 ISP before this and I think this is just at stiff if not more, as far as I can tell. I mashed the pedals with my little legs and easily got to over 30 without any noticeable flex for me. Granted I haven't experienced "name brand" frames but it's as stiff as I can tell for my lowly wattage outputs and high cadence :wink:

I will say one thing I noticed was the amazing acceleration! I was like whoa! :shock: This thing is a rocket. I was able to react to attacks on our group rides and caught up so fast I disrupted the train of riders that was coming to pass me. On another note it want's to climb really bad too! I really notice the difference in weight on climbs.

Still don't have a final weight but will soon!

@HaroldC

Thanks, I like the look too as I have always lusted over cervelo's but didn't want to shell out that much for a frame. I love the way it rides, stiff and quick acceleration with my little experience (stated above). I too was looking at the new Allez frame but am really happy I went with this one. Honestly, I think they are both great frames and would have been happy with either! I just want to get out and ride more this year.

Damn, I was hoping you were about 220 with some insane peak watts. I was 300lbs on december 9th. I am at 262.5 at the moment and I keep losing weight. I put out some gnarly power when I sprint. I am not opposed to a chineese frame as long as it is stiff enough.-David

If you're a big build fella, maybe you would want to check out the FM098 instead. There are a couple of big fellas over at Velobuild who have built it up and rode it will no complaints.
Its definitely a beefier and heavier frame though.

I have tree trunks, an un naturally large chest cavity. There is no such thing as aero with my shoulders, so I just mash harder. :) I have mashed hard enough to pull a speedplay cleat apart. Literally into seperate pieces.

I'm close to ordering a fm066 sl from hongfu and then I thought, why not buy a wheelset from them when already ordering and paying 85 dollars or so for shipment.
I know farsport and helin wheels but are they better or what? Any experience here?

thx in advance

I expect you won't get a break on shipping as they'll be in seperate boxes.

You might want to check out the thread on VeloBuild about why HongFu is not one of their vendors. VeloBuild has performance (shipping time) and stocking requirements for their approved vendors which HongFu was not meeting.

Last I looked HongFu's rims were not the same as the FarSport ones, being significantly heavier. I also like the basalt brake tracks on the FarSports. They seem to work acceptably well at resisting brake heat.

I agree with Eric. Farsports is the Chinese distributor for Sapim spokes. I don't think you get those with hong fu ones but I could be wrong.
