I just picked up a pair of Keywin Carbon pedals and for the most part I think they will work for me, but I am not enjoying the float resistance and the self centering. I am aware that the resistance is tuneable, but even with the screw backed way out I would like less resistance. So, my question is, has anyone tried removing one or both of the dampening rings to get less resistance?

You may not like to hear this, but the older Keywin CRMs have a lighter float than the new Carbons. On the CRM with the adjustment screw backed way off the float is very easy. I know that doesn't help you.

I haven't tried what you are suggesting. Try emailing Keywin at keywin@xtra.co.nz and ask John Winkie (the inventor and designer of the pedals).

They do take a while to wear in - float will get freer as you use them more.
